Lumut is a coastal town (population 31,880) in Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia, situated about 84 km from Ipoh, 12 km from the town of Sitiawan. It is the main gateway to Pangkor Island besides Marina Island which was established as a second gateway later on. It is noted for seashell-based and coral handicrafts. This once little-known fishing town has since become the home base of the Royal Malaysian Navy and the site of the biggest naval shipbuilder in Malaysia, Boustead Naval Shipyard. Lumut is also very popular for its dried sea products.

UniKL MIMET, the only Marine-based University is also situated in the District of Lumut.  The distance between UniKL MIMET’s Campus to Lumut town is only 15-20-minute drive spanning approximately 15 km. Lumut Jetty which is the gateway to the famous vacation spot, Pangkor Island, takes only 16 km or about 15-minute drive from UniKL MIMET.

Meanwhile from Seri Manjung Town , the town next to Lumut, will only take a 10-minute drive. Among the amenities and points of interest that you can find in Seri Manjung are AEON Shopping Mall which is only 7.4 km or 11-minute drive away besides McD, KFC , TESCO and other interesting places .
