The Marine Design Technology (MDT) is an academic section in Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UNIKL-MIMET) which consists of professionally experienced teaching and research staffs who have extremely strong industry links. This section is dedicated in ensuring our programmes offered remain relevant to the global demands. Our programmes are developed in collaboration with industries and government bodies, placing our highly skilled graduates in high demand in the industry locally and abroad.

Currently this section is administrating two programmes in UNIKL MIMET which are:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding
  • Diploma of Engineering Technology in Ship Design.

The curriculum for the programmes are intended to provide students with a broad knowledge of ship design and ship building through the study of ship or ocean vehicle design, hydrodynamics, ship structures, ship construction and/or on-board systems and equipment specific to the naval architecture discipline using creativity, critical thinking and hands-on approach. The students in UNIKL MIMET benefit from smaller class sizes with personalised attention and ready access to lecturer and tutors for advice and support.
