Senior Lecturer

Mr Zaimi Zainal Mukhtar graduated with B.Eng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering in 2000. Immediately after graduation he joined TFP Precision Sdn Bhd (now known as MIKRON (M) Bhd) at Shah Alam, Selangor as a Production Engineer. After spending two years with the company, he was called by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to joined MARA’s special project with Government of Victoria State, Australia in producing Technical Trainer and Technology Transfer for newly developed Technical & Vocational Institute of Marine (MIMET). He was attached to that program for two years in Australia and officially joined UniKL MIMET in early 2004. He is currently a senior lecturer at the Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology, an institute under Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and holds several posts in the institute where he was a Head of Section of Marine Design Technology (2004-2008), Head of Academics Affairs Section (2009-2011), Head of Quality Assurance Section (2012-2013) and Deputy Dean (A&T) from 2013 to 2016. Mr Zaimi is also actively involved in industrial society. He was elected as a committee member for Technical Unit under Association of Marine Industry of Malaysia (AMIM) since 2012. He is a registered NOSS Expert Panel of Marine Transport for JPK under HR Ministry of Malaysia. Nowadays, he is pursuing his postgraduate doctoral degree study at Universiti Malaysia, Terengganu (UMT).

Introduction :

During the course of his work, he has demonstrated his dedication to continuous education and skills

development. Since joining UniKL he had also performed several training to other companies and

institutions like Vale (M) Bhd, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Bhd, Marine Department of

Malaysia and etc. He has attended many professional training courses on various marine and offshore

subjects. He is very familiar with application of computer software such as MAXSURF, INVENTOR,

AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, ABAQUS and etc. His PhD work is focus on the optimisation of

marine and offshore structure design.

He was exposed to all the classification codes from IACS members as well as AWS, ASME, ANSI

codes. His key areas of expertise include:
