Electricity for mechanical personnel 1 & 2

Knowledge of fundamentals learnt from Electrical Engineering in solving basic electricity.

DURATION:
4 days

Course description:

Electricity for Mechanical Personnel 1 course will help participants to understand the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering in solving basic electricity. Introduction to Electricity is essential for Mechanical Personnel who need to grasp the basic theory.  It will also provide participants with the basic concepts of the fundamental differences between ideal and practical voltage and current sources and their mathematical models to represent these source models in electric circuits.  Electricity for Mechanical Personnel 2 course will help participants to understand the fundamentals learnt from Electrical Engineering in solving advance electricity. This course will serve to strengthen and augment the knowledge base of the mechanical personnel. It will provide participants with the concepts and laws of circuit theory, DC/AC circuit analysis, resonance circuits and the basic concepts of single and three phase systems.

Course objective:

Electricity for Mechanical Personnel 1

At the end of this course, participant should be able to:

  • Describe Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Laws, Voltage and current division method in the circuit.
  • Practise basic concept of electromagnetism  to relate in transformer applications
  • Apply the concept of capacitance and inductance in R-L, R-C and R-L-C circuits.
  • Demonstrate the ability to construct DC circuits.

Electricity for Mechanical Personnel 2

At the end of this course, participant should be able to:

  • Describe the principles of Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) circuit theorems.
  • Analyze DC and AC linear circuits using basic circuit theories.
  • Explain the effects of resonance and the characteristics of RLC circuits.
  • Demonstrate the ability to do measurement on basic DC and AC circuits.
