Realizing that the maritime sector has a broad scope that covers areas such as maritime transport, logistics, offshore industry and their supporting services; the institute has taken the initiative to develop a Bachelor of Maritime Operations (Hons.) programme with the support of industry experts representing government maritime law enforcement agency, shipping, seaport as well as shipbuilding and ship repair industries.

Career Opportunities:

Prospective undergraduates will be offered courses/ subjects in five sub-areas namely Maritime Transport Management, Seaport Operations, Maritime Law Enforcement, Business Management, as well as Marine Technology and Ocean Sciences. The incorporation of the mentioned five sub-areas is meant to provide adequate knowledge to prospective Bachelor in Maritime Operations graduates to venture into employment areas of shipping management, seaport operations, shipping and forwarding agencies, government law enforcement agencies, shipyard administration and other maritime auxiliary services.

Admission Requirements:

Lulus STPM atau yang setara dengan minimum

  • Gred C (CGPA 2.00) dalam tiga (3) mata pelajaran
  • Gred C (CGPA 2.00) dalam dua (2) mata pelajaran dan minimum gred D (CGPA 1.00) dalam mana-mana dua (2) mata pelajaran;

ATAU

Lulus STAM dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya pangkat Jayyid dan lulus SPM atau setara, dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Kredit dalam dua (2) mata pelajaran dan lulus mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggeris;

*contoh: Bagi permohonan kemasukan tahun 2015, lulus STAM tahun 2014 atau 2013.

ATAU

Lulus A-Level dengan sekurang-kurangnya lulus dua (2) mata pelajaran, dan lulus SPM atau setaraf, dengan sekurang-kurangnya lulus Bahasa Inggeris;

ATAU

Lulus program Matrikulasi/ Persediaan dalam bidang Sains yang diiktiraf atau setaraf dengan minimum CGPA 2.00;

ATAU

Lulus program Asas Sains dan Teknologi / program Asas Sains (Foundation in Science and Technology/ Foundation in Science) daripada UniKL dengan minimum CGPA 2.00;

ATAU

Diploma (Tahap 4, KKM) dalam bidang berkaitan yang diiktiraf atau setara dengan CGPA 2.00 minimum;

ATAU

Bagi pelajar antarabangsa, skor TOEFL 500 atau skor IELTS 5.0 atau yang setara.
Sekiranya pelajar tidak memenuhi kriteria tersebut, PPT mesti menawarkan kursus kemahiran Bahasa Inggeris untuk memastikan profisiensi pelajar memadai untuk memenuhi keperluan keperluan program. Hal ini biasanya dilakukan melalui proses penilaian.

This programme is designed to produce:

  • Graduates who are practice professionalism in ethics and social responsibility.
  • Graduates who are capable of embarking on business and technopreneurial activities.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Upon graduation, our students of Bachelor of Maritime Operations (Hons.) – BMO will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of basic ocean science, nautical science and management fundamentals in maritime activities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of management operation principles and state of the art maritime technology tools.
  • Solve problems through the integration of knowledge of mathematics, ocean science, ship technology, information and communication technology (ICT) and management science.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilise a systems approach in evaluating operational performance.
  • Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern management tools, including prediction and modelling, to broadly define operational activities in the maritime sector.
  • Function effectively as an individual, and as a member in diverse technical teams
  • Communicate effectively on broadly defined maritime activities with the maritime community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations and give and receive instructions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities and norms of the practices in the maritime industry.
  • Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of maritime industry practices.
  • Understand the impact of maritime industrial activities in a societal context and demonstrate knowledge of and the need for sustainable development.
  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of management, business practices, and technopreneurial competencies.
  • Recognize the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent and life-long learning.
